Bala had been an acolyte at the temple for less than a month when a temple elder gave her what was described as an important project:
"One of the elders left the east gate open last night, and as a result we have a small infestation problem. It appears a wild xerr has entered the grounds and has caused a bit of a nuisance. I'd like you to take care of it. Your ability to rise in the temple ranks will be determined by your success in this task" the elder told her.
"Understood wise elder", Bala Responded. "If I may ask though, I have never dealt with a wild xerr. How do I expel it from the temple."
The elder eyed Bala a moment, and said "Xerrs are ferocious when hungry, but slow and dim witted when their appetites have been sated. More importantly however, you are an acolyte of Merberra, who gives strength to the vigilant! Go out and meet this xerr head on, and let your faith be your shield! We'll all be right behind you, to support you in your task."
Bala felt her doubts dissolve in a wave of righteous piety. "Merberrra guide me!" she yelled, as she ran off to confront the beast. Bala's head was full of thoughts of praise and promotion when she turned the corner in the last flight of steps to the courtyard and came face to face with a wall of gnashing teeth.
Some have said of late that my Busty Elves in Peril series needed more peril. So, here's some work on that front.
